Since downward growth is prohibitied on a Green Roof, plant selection is restricted
by the plant roots downward growth characteristics and the available water capacity
of the growth environment. Use the following chart
as a guide to choosing plants, their required soil depth and drainage layer.

(*1) Roof Soil™ depths require that either G-SKY Drain or GR Drain 20 be installed
beneath them in order to enhance the water retention, aeration and drainage qualities
of the growth environment. Without G-SKY Drain or GR Drain 20, the soil depth
values must be multiplied by 1.5 and a 50mm layer of obsidian-perlite must be installed
below the soil to facilitate drainage and aeration.
(*2) Small~Mid-sized Trees and Tall Shrubs may require that
GR Support be installed and their root-balls secured for wind resistance.
