The GR Drain 20 and G-SKY Drain perform 3 functions:
  1. Drainage, water can flow freely underneath
  2. Water Retention, water is retained in its cups
  3. Aeration, air flows up into the soil from underneath
Compared with a traditional Green Roof installation, GR Drain 20 and G-SKY Drain significantly reduce the depth of soil needed to support healthy plants, reducing a Green Roofs weight on a building. The aeration function reduces cultivation needs and maintenance costs while the water retention cups reduce irrigation needs. GR Drain 20 and G-SKY Drain are less expensive to buy and much easier to install than a gravel drainage layer with deep soil.
